Eatable (not really) Art
A number of years ago i started a series of paintings with fruits and vegetables as the subject. It started as a challenge to do a painting a day, i found i wanted to make them more finished that the time i had in a day (for me at the time i could only have 2hrs each evening to paint). So I started taking the studies i had done and doing finished works
I started with watercolor because i felt comfortable in that medium at the time and loved the luminance that it gave to the fruit and vegetables; they felt touchable in a way that made me hungry.
After a few rounds i got bored (right?) and started experimenting with layering of different textures. I was doing a lot of projects together with my wife, where she would lay down a Japanese rice paper ground and then i would paint on top.
