Burien Arts Market Gala Night
On Friday November 16, 2019 I participated in the BAM event that raises money for arts in the Burien area for kids programs.
There were 25+ plus artists that were given nine 8×8 inch wood panels to create original art on. The work was then hung in the community center and the public was invited to a reception. After wine and some food and raffle drawings, the announcer gives a signal and everyone grabs the art they like off the wall and pays $40. The money goes toward the arts programs.
It was a lot of fun, and a bit of a challenge, to create the series while in the midst of planning and projects at work. But I learned a lot and was happy to see my art all disappear quickly. One person was so focused on one of the pieces she hung out by the display and warned everyone else off the piece she wanted 😏.
I will look for some other opportunities to display my work in the new year. Slowing down a bit with the holidays, and my studio in the garage isn’t heated so it makes it a little tough when it gets cold.
